Scrapbook Identity and Argument

The idea I have come up with is "history repeats itself". I'm a golfer. I have grown up playing the sport. I started when I was really young. My grandparents who are golfers got me started with my first set of junior golf clubs and eventually I started taking lessons. As my skills grew stronger, I started playing in tournaments, did well, and that got me my scholarship to NMSU. My scrapbook is going show my development in the game and my present involvement on the team at NMSU. In the future I want to teach golf or coach as a profession. I would really like to work with children. My focus will be that having been introduced to this sport by my grandparents I will pass on my skills and knowledge to the next generation, hopefully to my own children as well as to the children of others.

  1. That idea sounds great. So, the argument would be how your involvement in gold all these years have lead you to pursue a career in maybe teaching others the sport? Awesome. I have only played golf a few times so I can't tell you if I am good at the sport or not. One thing, though, is I don't like to be out too much in the sun, so.. that probably is one of the big things about playing golf. I love to play tennis though.

  2. Well its sorta along the lines of that. But the main point is that "history repeats itself". Usually when you have a hobby and play for all your life you usually want to introduce your hobby/sport to your kids. It's sharing with the next generation :)

  3. This is perfect. The overall focus will be to perform your identity as a golfer, but I love that there is an even deeper argument about how mentoring and play leads children to their dreams. I love that you want to spend your career teaching other kids to love the sport. Really excellent.
Consider how you will visually represent this identity. What sort of commonplaces are involved in golf - equipment, the green, the clothes, carts, etc. There are lots of visual markers that suggest a golfing persona.
